Warby Parker - Ghostly Collection Launch

Today I'll be introducing the new Ghostly collection by Warby Parker.

Warby Parker is an eyewear brand focussing on the designer aspect for revolutionary prices, while Ghostly is a record company and an artist collective - a collaboration that makes for interesting design.

Curtis — Revolver Black

Curtis — Ghostly Grey Matte

With the launch of this collection, they want to emphasize the fact that sunglasses can bring a mood just like a song can. In this case they named the frame after Ian Curtis, singer of Joy Division. The frame is described as mysterious and a secret handshake, and comes in Revolver Black or Ghostly Grey Matte. Personally I think the matte version best gives the mysterious mood, and makes me think of a ghost as well which is just a nice suitable extra in this case.

I like the fact that the music aspect is subtle — the glasses are only named after Curtis and don't emphasize the band in any other way that would be too tacky or gadgety. Being a fan of Joy Division, I certainly wouldn't mind wearing a pair of sunglasses that are named after Ian Curtis.

Apart from the launch of this great collection, there is something that's very interesting to know about Warby Parker, because for every pair they sell, they give one to someone in need. This is featured on their website as 'Do Good' which you can read all about over here. This year they distributed 500,000 sunglasses to people in need. 'Who needs sunglasses when you're poor? What about food?' I hear you think. Well, to be honest I didn't understand it myself at first - but apparently sunglasses can increase productivity by 35% and makes for a monthly income increase of 20% - which might just be more interesting for people in need than giving one food package that's gone after they ate it.

So as a conclusion, I'd say buy Warby Parker! As to finish this post, I show you the free cloth that comes with every Ghostly pair of sunglasses, designed by Michael Kina. Love the galaxy style!
